Selecting a topic
The Forum will cover several topics that matter to the youth of today. You may refer to the below topics to choose what you would like to talk about.
- Skills for the future
- The case for human values in education
- Redefine the purpose of education
- The place for creativity and innovation in education
- The case for teaching mindsets and life skills at school
Guidelines for your speech topic, content and delivery: IYLIF2018
- Speakers may select their specific speech topics if they are related to those topics
- Speech topics given above are generic pointers
- We want to see your unique points and ideas in your speeches
- The speech should give strong positive messages to the audience
- The speech should have some actionable points they audience can consider
- Speeches should have some stories, anecdotes and
- Each speech should be 5-6 minutes
- Speech should be informative, entertaining and inspiring
- Speeches should not be politically inclined
- Speeches should not sell any products, services or anything that is deemed selling.
- Speeches should not have any content, actions, gestures or media that would discriminate or hurt the sentiments of any person, religion, race or group.
- At any point during or after the IYLIF conference, if we find plagiarism in your speech at IYLIF, we reserve the right to revoke the International Youth Ambassador status of the person under consideration.
- This is not a competition.
How to apply?
Student speakers
- Choose a topic from the list of topics in the previous section.
- Send us a 2 minute video of you speaking on your chosen topic along with the duly filled application form by 30th June 2018. Wild card entry applications are open until 30 Aug 2018. So, if you missed the deadline, you can apply now.
- Our selection panel will select your candidature based on how well you are presenting in the video. So, record it prepared.
- Your video should be unedited. The selection panel has the authority to reject the candidature if the feel the video is edited.
- We would like to know what your strengths are. We would like to know about your hobbies, talents, values and achievements inside and outside your school. Please fill that part carefully in the application form.
- Our selection panel will shortlist the final speakers after analysing the videos.
- You are welcome to send videos / attend the audition for more than one topic. However, we would be selecting a maximum of only one topic from that.
- There will be two bootcamps before the forum. It is mandatory for all selected speakers to attend both bootcamps – onsite or online. The bootcamps will feature experts from public speaking and leadership coaching practices.
Fill up the application form and send us a copy of your NRIC (or passport), relevant videos and a passport size photograph.

Registration Fee for student speakers
USD 120 per student participant (inclusive of two bootcamps on public speaking skills by experts)
You do not need to pay when you apply. If you are selected as IYA selects by our selection panel, you need to make the registration fee of USD 120 to take part in the conference.
2. Parent representatives for panel discussions
Please tell us what topics you are interested in discussing and why we should choose you for that.
Apply with the duly filled application form along with your CV by 30th June 2018. Our selection panel will shortlist the panelists based on your arguments and the topic selected.

4. Performers
Group performances of youth in the age group 10-20 are welcome. Please send us a video of a prior performance of yours along with the duly filled form.
we might not be able to provide opportunity to all registrants. Our selection panel will choose the candidates based on the quality and uniqueness of their topics / performance. Only selected participants will be notified.
The selection panel’s decision will be final.
