Selecting a topic

The Forum will cover several topics that matter to the youth of today. You may refer to the below topics to choose what you would like to talk about.

1. Technology in education - a boon or a bane?
2. Generation gap - how does it impact innovation in education?
3. Sustainability - is it only on paper or are equational institutions really practicing it?
4. What do we need to change to make education future ready?

Guidelines for your speech topic, content and delivery: IYLIF2019

1. Speakers may select their specific speech topics if they are related to those topics
2. Speech topics given above are generic pointers
3. We are not looking for theory or text book examples. We want to see your unique points, views and ideas in your speeches
4. The speech should give strong positive messages to the audience
5. The speech should have some actionable points they audience can consider
6. Speeches should have some stories, anecdotes and real life examples
7. Each speech should be 5-6 minutes
8. Speech should be informative, entertaining and inspiring
9. Speeches should not be politically inclined
10. Speeches should not sell any products, services or anything that is deemed selling.
11. Speeches should not have any content, actions, gestures or media that would discriminate or hurt the sentiments of any person, religion, race or group.
12. At any point during or after the IYLIF conference, if we find plagiarism in your speech at IYLIF, we reserve the right to revoke the International Youth Ambassador status of the person under consideration.
13. This is not a competition. Hence, there is no best speaker awards.

How to apply?

1. Student speakers

1. You are eligible to apply if your 11th birthday falls on 1 August 2019 or before and your 21st birthday falls on 1 August 2019 or later.
2. Choose a topic from the list of topics in the previous section.
3. Send us a 2 minute audition video of you speaking on your chosen topic along with the duly filled application form by 30 September 2019 (extended till 14 October to accommodate the schedule of P6 students in Singapore).
4. Our selection panel will select your candidature based on how well you are presenting in the video. So, record it prepared.
5. We expect the candidate to speak without any notes. Please refrain from reading from screens as well.
6. Your video should be unedited. The selection panel has the authority to reject the candidature if they feel the video is edited.
7. Please record the audition video just for IYLIF. Once you have sent us the video, please do not share or circulate that video file on any other platform.
8. We do not accept videos of speeches you have delivered at other events, for the audition video, as we may be posting it on our websites or social media and other platforms. However, you may send us links to your other speeches too (but you still need to record and send us an audition video) if that will help to strengthen your candidature.
9. We would like to know what your strengths are. We would like to know about your hobbies, talents, values and achievements inside and outside your school. Please fill that part carefully in the application form.
10. Our selection panel will shortlist the final speakers after analysing the videos.
11. You are welcome to send audition videos for more than one topic. However, we would be selecting a maximum of only one topic from that.
12. There will be two bootcamps before the forum. It is mandatory for all selected speakers to attend both bootcamps - onsite or online. The bootcamps will feature experts from public speaking and leadership coaching practices.

Fill up the application form and send us a copy of your photo identity card, relevant videos and a passport size photograph.

Registration Fee for student speakers

Application Fees: USD 10 per applicant (non-refundable. You will pay this fees when you apply)

Speaker Participation Fees: USD 150 per student participant. This is inclusive of two bootcamps on public speaking skills by experts before the event. (non-refundable. You will pay this only if you are selected as an IYA to speak at IYLIF 2019 by our selection panel, to speak and take part in the conference.)

2. Parenting Experts for speaking/panel discussions

Please tell us what topics you are interested in discussing and why we should choose you for that.

Apply with the duly filled application form along with your CV. Our selection panel will shortlist the panelists based on your arguments and the topic selected.

Application Fees: USD 10 per applicant (non-refundable. You will pay this fees when you apply)

Speaker Participation Fees: USD 150 per participant. (non-refundable. You will pay this only if you are selected as a parent representative  to speak at a panel at IYLIF 2019 by our selection panel)

3. Experts/educators for panel discussions

Please tell us what topics you are interested in discussing and why we should choose you for that.

Apply with the duly filled application form along with your CV. Our selection panel will shortlist the panelists based on your arguments and the topic selected.

Application Fees: USD 10 per applicant (non-refundable. You will pay this fees when you apply)

Speaker Participation Fees: USD 150 per participant. (non-refundable. You do not need to make the payment when you apply. You will pay this only if you are selected as an expert/educator to speak at a panel or independently at IYLIF 2019 by our selection panel)

4. Performers

Group performances of youth in the age group 10-20 years are welcome. Please send us a video of a prior performance of yours along with the duly filled form.

we might not be able to provide opportunity to all registrants. Our selection panel will choose the candidates based on the quality and uniqueness of their topics / performance. Only selected participants will be notified.

Number of participants in the group: Minimum - 4, Maximum 8.

Group Participation Fees: USD 10 per participant. (non-refundable. You do not need to make the payment when you apply. You will pay this if you are selected as an expert/educator  to speak at a panel or independently at IYLIF 2019 by our selection panel)

The selection panel's decision will be final.
